Club EthosThe Ethos of Basingstoke Volleyball Club is to promote and develop the Olympic sport of Volleyball in and around the Basingstoke area. The club is open to all levels, abilities and ages from the novice beginner to the seasoned player. We aim to do this by. Loyalty and a Commitment by the Club members of the club to achieve the clubs goals. To encourage and develop others through Teamwork. To Drive the standard and level of the Club forwards. To have the Ambition to succeed and win but also the Humility to lose with a smile on your face. To make sure that you and all around you experience the Enjoyment and Fun of playing Volleyball. Club Goals · To increase the Membership of the Club. · To raise the profile of Volleyball within the Basingstoke area. · To have 4 teams competing within the Berkshire Volleyball Association. Team Goals for 2009 / 20101. Men’s A Team – To be the Premier men’s team in Division 1 of the Berkshire Volleyball Association. 2. Men’s B Team – To play at the highest standard possible and be the feeder team to the Premier team. 3. Ladies Team – To Challenge to be League champions within the Berkshire Volleyball Association 4. Mixed Team – To develop player’s skills in match play and be a feeder into the Men’s B and Ladies teams. Basingstoke Volleyball Club is a very active & mixed club welcoming all standards of players and nationalities.
Club Nights September - AprilDuring the winter, club nights are every Wednesday evening between 8.15pm and 9.45 pm at Queen Mary's College (QMC). The evening will consist of a training session followed by some on court practice. For those that are still fit enough further training is available at a public house nearby... May - SeptemberIn the summer months you can find us at War Memorial Park, off Crossborough Hill every Wednesday evening. The nets are usually up by 6.30pm and games go on until it's either too dark to see or thirst drives us indoors...........to the pub! Team Training Evening In addition to Club nights, we also have team training on Friday evenings. This is held at Queen Mary's College in Cliddesden Road, Basingstoke from 6.45pm until 9 pm. Leagues, Tournaments and other eventsIn addition to our regular Wednesday and Friday evenings we also compete in the Berkshire League on Sundays from October to April and play in several grass (East Hants Picnic @ Bordon & Whitefield Tournament @ Bath) and beach tournaments througout the summer. Keep an eye on the Club Diary for the latest tournaments and other social events.
So if you have played before, now is the time to dust off those knee pads and join in! If you are a total beginner, why not come down for the evening and give it a go? You may be surprised just how quick you can pick up the game!
